Bernardsville Public Library offers a wide range of activities and programs for children and young adults. Regularly scheduled programs are listed below. Each program session meets weekly for eight weeks (unless otherwise noted), and registration is required for each session. |

Baby’s Book Time (ages 6 - 17 months)
-- Babies and caregivers will be introduced to finger-plays, baby games,
action verses, Mother Goose rhymes, and board books. Early literacy skills will be introduced and suggestions for practice will be offered. |

| Tot Time (ages
2½ - 5 years old) -- Tots will be introduced to theme-related
books and stories that are age- and attention- appropriate. Tots learn
simple finger-plays, action verses, rhymes, and poetry. Each class will
include a craft to make and plenty of suggested books to take home and
enjoy. Children and parents will have the opportunity to practice one of the six early literacy skills: print motivation, print awareness, vocabulary, letter recognition, phonological awareness, and narration skills. Saturday Story Time (ages 2½ - 5 years old) -- Pre-schoolers will be introduced to theme-related stories and books that are age- and attention-appropriate. Children learn finger-plays, action verses, poetry, rhymes and games. Each class will include a craft to make, bibliography of suggested books to share later at home and practice tips for the early literacy skill that was introduced during the class. |

Afternoon with Books (Kindergarten
- Grade 2) -- Books and stories will be read and/or visually presented.
Theme-related poetry, riddles, jokes, and rhymes will be introduced. Each
class will include a craft or a library skill game or activity. Trivia Challenges (ages 9 - 12 years old) -- 1-2 times a month. Children will be challenged in various subject categories—similar to a junior jeopardy game. All participants will be awarded small incentive prizes and will expand their general wealth of knowledge. |

| Special Saturday
Activities (ages 5+) -- 1-2 times a month. Children will have
the opportunity to learn a new craft or skill. Activities will be presented
by library personnel or outside groups or individuals.
Book Discussion (ages 10+) -- Book discussions on books suitable for reading and sharing as a group or family. Discussions are fun, lively, creative and informative. |

Take-home Craft Projects (ages
3+) -- 2-3 times a month pick up a ready-made craft packet to take
home and complete. Each packet contains complete instructions and the necessary
materials. Sample project will be on display. Special After-School or Evening Programs -- Each month special programs and activities will be scheduled on a variety of topics. Be certain to check your Bernardsville Library Times for more information. |

| Readers' Theater
(grades 1-3) -- A book will be read to the group. Then the fun begins!Readers' theater is an activity in which students, while reading directly from scripts, are able
to tell a story in a most entertaining form, without props, costumes, or
sets. This is a reading activity, and students are not asked to memorize their lines. They are, however, encouraged to "ham it up" and use intonation and gestures appropriate to their characters and their characters’ words. Summer Reading Club (ages 2½ -12) -- Each summer the library offers a theme-based summer reading program. Activities include: story times, music, games, crafts, movies, and special programs. |
