Go Walk in the Woods or Go-Pro

Now that our month-long One Book Bernardsville event centered around Bill Bryson’s A Walk in the Woods is winding down, we wonder whether you’ve actually been inspired to take a sustained hike or walk in the woods? Have you tried a bit of the Appalachian Trail with our group who hiked to Sunfish Pond recently?
Did you learn about wildlife at Lord Stirling Park or look for migrating raptors at Scherman Hoffman Sanctuary? We also offered several program about thru-hiking the Appalachian Trail and the essential equipment needed.
If you’re still thinking about a short walk on the Appalachian Trail or maybe even a long one, here are two videos introducing you to what the experience is like. One is a Go-Pro video, which gives you the sensation of doing the hike yourself. The second video is a time-lapse of the entire Appalachian Trail hike. Although this hike took six months, the video is condensed into four minutes. On it, you’ll even see High Point, NJ, one of the notable landmarks along the Appalachian Trail. We hope you enjoyed learning about the trail and joining in the communal reading of this book.
