Sundays at Three: Joshua Breakstone's Cello-Quartet

Guitarist Joshua Breakstone’s unique “Cello-Quartet” is a  collaboration of four well-known, veteran jazz players including, in addition to Mr. Breakstone, cellist Mike Richmond, bassist Lisle Atkinson, and drummer Andy Watson. The harmonizations of the strings—guitar, bass and cello—are stunning and a combination never before heard in jazz. This is a configuration that appeals to a broad audience from classical music lovers, to jazz lovers looking for something different, to guitar aficionados….While it’s definitely jazz, at the same time, it’s most definitely something a little different! This is a free concert funded by the Friends of the Bernardsville Library. Doors open at 2:45 pm. No sign-up is needed.

Friday Afternoon at the Movies: "Sense & Sensibility"

Join us to watch “Sense and Sensibility” (1995), the British-American period drama film directed by Ang Lee and based on Jane Austen’s 1811 novel of the same name. Actress Emma Thompson wrote the script and stars as Elinor Dashwood, while Kate Winslet plays Elinor’s younger sister Marianne. The story follows the Dashwood sisters, members of a wealthy English family of landed gentry, as they must deal with circumstances of sudden destitution. They are forced to seek financial security through marriage. Our Friday afternoon movie series is funded by gifts to the Friends of the Bernardsville Library. Free. Join us to watch “The Wizard of Oz” (1939), the beloved icon of American popular culture notable for its use of technicolor, fantasy storytelling, musical score, and memorable characters. Fridays at the Movies: "The Light Between Oceans"

Join us to watch “The Light Between Oceans” (2016), a romantic period drama film based on the 2012 novel of the same name by M. L. Stedman.  Starring Michael Fassbender and Alicia Vikander, the film tells the story of a lighthouse keeper and his wife who rescue and adopt an infant girl adrift at sea. Years later, the couple discovers the child’s true parentage and are faced with the moral dilemma of their actions. Stay afterwards for a short discussion of the film.
