An award-winning watercolor artist, Nancy E. Robinson has been working in the fine arts field for more than 30 years. Using both watercolor and oils, her work is often of architectural landscapes inspired by local surroundings and travel abroad. Figures in everyday settings are also of interest. A full-time artist residing in Basking Ridge, New Jersey, Ms. Robinson is a realist painter, aiming to represent the effect of light and shadow on her subjects, rather than simply reproduce the scenes as viewed. She paints to capture memories, record the character of light, the fall of shadows, and the nature of forms. Painting is her emotional response to what she sees, and she hopes to invoke a similar response in those who view her work.
After graduating with a degree in Fine Arts and Art Education from The College of Saint Elizabeth, Ms. Robinson continued her studies with several notable artists—Carol Hubbard, John Salminen, Judy Betts, Anne Kullaf, Gary Godbee and Stan Miller—and at The Yard School of Art, Center for Contemporary Design and Du Cret School of Art.
She has taught painting to students in her home studio, and her work hangs in private collections in New Jersey, Connecticut, Illinois and Florida. She is represented by Manasquan Paint and Frame Gallery in Manasquan, NJ.
An elected Signature Member of New Jersey Watercolor Society, Ms. Robinson holds professional membership in EWCC, MSHAC, GSWCS, and NJ Society of En Plein Air Painters.
