Friday Afternoon Movie: “Paths of Glory”
Time: 2:00 PM
Location: Bernardsville Library
Join us to watch “Paths of Glory” (1957) starring Kirk Douglas, and linger afterwards to discuss it with the group. The movie, directed by Stanley Kubrick, is among the most powerful antiwar films ever made. Douglas stars as a World War I French colonel who goes head-to-head with the army’s ruthless top brass when his men are accused of cowardice after being unable to carry out an impossible mission. It’s a haunting, exquisitely photographed dissection of the military machine in all its absurdity and capacity for dehumanization. Our Friday afternoon movie series is funded by gifts to the Friends of the Bernardsville Library. Free. Advance sign-up is requested, but not required. Click here to sign up.
