The NJ Art Association (originally the Millburn-Short Hills Art Center) is one of the oldest art associations in New Jersey. The group encourages art education and appreciation; commends the work of its members and other individuals and arts groups; offers opportunities for growth in the arts and the development of local talent; and sponsors programs by highly qualified presenters for its members and the community. Most NJ Art Association members are visual artists — amateurs and professionals and whatever is in between — who share those goals and a love of art. In addition to mounting their own exhibitions and demonstrations, the members join together several times a year to show their work. [Pictured: acrylic by Mike Dziomba]
Sharlys Dugan, an award-winning Irish harpist, will perform on harp and tin whistle. There will be Irish step dancing, including an audience-participation demonstration, Irish songs, as well as stories and jokes. Ms. Dugan is best known for her 11-year career with Dugan’s Hooligans, a New Jersey-based Celtic eclectic ensemble starring Sharlys and her brother, Connor Dugan. She has been playing the harp for nearly two decades and performing professionally since she was seven years old. She is a talented musician, dancer and vocalist, an engaging performer, and a natural entertainer. This free concert is funded by gifts to the Friends of the Bernardsville Library. No sign-up is needed. Doors open at 2:45 pm.Read more...
