Tips for Maximizing College Financial Aid
August 1, 2019 // Filed under Blog
Bernardsville Public Library will host a free, educational College Financial Planning workshop, focusing on high school sophomores, juniors and seniors, on Thursday, August 8 at 7:00 pm. The program will be presented by Red Oak College Planning, which is based in Basking Ridge.
Under discussion will be the FAFSA form and all the other information needed to maximize the amount of financial aid families are eligible to receive. Even if a family is not eligible for need-based aid, the program will cover the best strategies for paying for college in the most cost efficient way—without putting a strain on the rest of the family’s finances.
Among the topics to be covered will be: how to increase college-related tax deductions and tax credits; how to pick colleges that will give the best financial aid packages; how to send a child to an expensive private university for less than a state school; which assets are taken into consideration when the U.S. Department of Education calculates Expected Family Contribution (EFC); and how to lower “out-of-pocket” costs and get the maximum amount of money from each school.
There is no charge to attend the program; advance registration is requested, but not required. Click here to sign up or call the library at 908-766-0118 to sign up.
